Regional cultural documentation initiative

Project Overview

The Northwest Kwanzaa History Project is an effort to preserve and document the history of Kwanzaa celebrations in the Pacific Northwest by collecting stories, photographs, and memories from community members who helped shape these traditions.


MABS provided planning and operational support for a community storytelling event designed to capture these histories.

Work Completed

• Supported event planning and logistical coordination for a community storytelling gathering
• Assisted in designing the process for collecting participant stories and media
• Coordinated documentation of oral histories and photographs shared by participants
• Organized collected media for integration into the project’s digital archive and website

Impact

• Successfully captured multiple community stories and historical accounts
• Preserved cultural memory and community leadership history
• Created a foundation for a growing digital archive documenting Kwanzaa in the region
• Strengthened community engagement around cultural storytelling and preservation
